Focus of Living Empowered & Prepared (LE&P)

Parents encounter the challenging question of, who will run their adult-child’s day-to-day housing program when they are no longer able to? Families also often encounter discrepancies with the Fiscal Intermediaries (FIs) as they can misunderstand the individuals capabilities, interests and goals.

The focus of LE&P is to assist the parents in overseeing their child’s housing program and to bridge the gap between the families and the FI's. At LE&P, this is done by diligently understanding the granular needs of the individual through the collaboration with the family. Then by providing them with customizable oversight services that can be adjusted overtime to continuously personalize the plan for the child. Throughout the development of the plan, we see how to make it sustainable and to keep it protected from any major interruption in their day-to-day living. While also building strong relationships and providing them a safe and healthy environment.

The plan won't just be support; it willI be a dedicated journey towards helping them live empowered and prepared!

About Thomas Nguyen

While in school for Physical Therapy Assistant, I worked at Heritage Christian Services for about 2 years to work with a group of clients as a Recreational Assistant. I withdrew from PTA and went onboard with Trinity Assistance and Happiness House to work 1:1 with my client (whom is in the profile picture with me). Fast forward to today, I've been with him for 10+ years. As time went on, I've taken on more of the oversight roles of his weekly program. Working with him in this field has been a fulfilling and joyous experience that I'm incredibly thankful to have. With this experience, it has further grown my compassion and understanding for individuals with I/DD. At my age (34), I will continue to soak up all the experience and knowledge to grow the quality of my services, while also remain physically active to participate in the recreational activities with them to further grow the relationship. On this journey, I have come across many parents who have expressed their worry about how their kids program and residential living will be sustained. Learning about their situations, in addition to knowing more about the long waitlist for group homes in NY has developed the ambition in me to get involved by providing services and plans that will help continue, protect and grow their kids program. Which then transpired to the start of my company, Living Empowered & Prepared (LE&P). I will also be working towards my Housing Navigator Certification Fall 2025. - Few hobbies of mine that I enjoy (and implement to my business) is website designing, social media ads, infographics, video creations, learn new software techs, being active, going outdoors and trying new recreational activities.
